How to make a name badge

  1. Type the person's full name — this is the largest line, so enter it the way they want to be greeted.
  2. Add a title or role and the organization, like "Volunteer" or "Keynote Speaker, Acme Labs," so people know who they're talking to.
  3. Enter the event name to tie the badge to the occasion and match your signage.
  4. Choose an accent color that matches your brand or lanyards — it colors the header bar.
  5. Click Generate, check the preview, and download. Print at the standard 4×3 inch size or on Avery-compatible inserts.

FAQ

What size is a standard name badge?

The most common sizes are 3×4 and 4×3 inches, which fit nearly every badge holder and lanyard. This generator outputs at that ratio with a safe margin, so it drops into standard holders and Avery inserts without clipping text.

Can I print these on Avery sheets?

Yes. Download the badge and drop it into a document sized for your Avery template, or place several copies on a full sheet and cut to size. The printer-safe margin keeps the name and title clear of the edges.

How do I make badges for a whole attendee list?

For one or two, this free tool is fastest. For dozens or thousands, use the Emblazo API to generate one badge per row of your attendee spreadsheet automatically — same design, filled with each person's details. See the automate section below.

Is this really free?

Yes. The browser generator is free with no signup. You only pay if you automate badge creation through the API, about a cent per badge.

Automate badges with the API

Need hundreds for a conference? POST /v1/render with template "name-badge" and a JSON body carrying each attendee's name, title, organization, event, and accent color. The API renders a print-ready badge at the edge in milliseconds — about 1¢ each. Loop over your list to batch a full event, or call it from your registration flow so a badge is ready the moment someone signs up. See the API docs.
